YEAR IN REVIEW: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE VIDEO
2020 in 2 Minutes
Transcript of the Video
2020 was a very difficult year. It was a year of restrictions, of lockdowns, and of closures. Yet God in His Providence chose 2020 to begin this monumental project for His Mother.
Seven months ago, the faithful came to the Immaculata project site, which at the time was just a grassy field, and were able to witness the Groundbreaking - something which they have been waiting 40 years to see. They also participated in the first Mass that would ever be offered on that site.
As we moved into the summer months, July and August, bulldozers and other equipment showed up at the site and they started moving earth and we really saw progress happening on the project.
[Spencer Levin, Hutton] Right now, we are here on site. We just started the mass excavation.
[Rob Eichman, MCM] And then, the last thing we did was came in and dug the basement for the church.
[Kris Koenig, Hutton] All the main people we need for the biggest portion of the structure are in place.
[Jeremy Garrett, Kolde] We’ve made a lot of progress in the month of November. In the coming month of December, the basement foundations and walls should be complete and the first half of the basement floor will be placed.
[Fr. Rutledge] A whole city of workers are now up at the site pouring concrete, laying rebar, and with structural steel even showing up.
2021 is going to be an even more exciting year for the project because we're going to see the structure of the church coming up out of the earth. We're going to see the structural steel go up and already in March, just a few months from now, we're going to see the building being clad with brick and other masonry work being done on the church.
We're even planning for now, and we'll give more details of course in due time, but we're planning an update event in April so stay tuned for that. And we hope at that event to give you a very significant update of what the progress is but also to see some of some concrete images of what the interior of the church will look like.
On behalf of all the priests and sisters here in St. Mary’s, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the best wishes for a new year as well!
