A Candle Lit for Our Queen
The Blessed Virgin spent forty days after Christmas contemplating the divine fruit of her glorious maternity. Though she was immaculate and in no need of purification, she ended these forty days with a visit to the temple to fulfill the requirements of the Old Law in a supreme act of humility. It is this feast of the Purification of Our Lady, therefore, that officially ends the Christmas season – a season in which we have been in constant admiration of the divine Maternity of Our Lady as Virgin-Mother.
But as this unique liturgical admiration is completed with today’s feast, our own efforts to admire her and build a home worthy of Her are escalating. Our hearts echo a liturgical refrain that begins with today’s feast as we progress in building the Immaculata – Dignare me laudare te Virgo Sacrata – Allow me to praise you, O Holy Virgin. We have very much at heart a desire to praise the Mother of God with the building of this home, but on our part that requires a continual contemplation of Her and how this home can be a silent sermon preaching Her greatness to all who will pray within its walls.
Not only is groundbreaking approaching very quickly, which will take place on May 31st, but our design team is now proceeding into discussions and decisions about the interior embellishments of the Immaculata. How will the Immaculata express Her maternal care? What symbols and decorations will there be to help us realize Her holiness? How can we embellish this already beautiful edifice, working in harmony with its existing architecture? How do we do all this and keep within our budget? Such is the work that lies ahead and it is no small task. We are already indebted to you all, but please help us with this work by continuing to pray for the success of the project and by continuing to build an Immaculata within your souls.
Dignare me laudare te Virgo Sacrata!
